Gisele Bündchen inspired by Irving Penn
John Galliano’s “Bal des Artistes" is an anniversary runway and homage to artistic affinities.
The Orangerie of the Château de Versailles was taken over for this spectacular anniversary fashion show, which featured 45 looks in tribute to 45 artists dear to the couturier.
From Irving Penn, photographer of the golden age of couture, to René Gruau, illustrator and friend of Christian Dior, including great Spanish masters such as Velasquez, or the Flemish and Italian painters, all were honored in this collection which included many artistic references.
Through the prism of Irving Penn’s photographs, this feminine silhouette, which opened the show, adopted all the codes of the Dior woman, thanks to the reinterpretation of the Bar suit and the presence of a lily of the valley sprig as a lucky charm.
The definition of a silhouette starts with the creation of a toile. Several shapes are tested, and the intended ornaments or accessories are also mentioned.
The accessories were also revisited to complement John Galliano’s vision of the Dior silhouette inspired by Irving Penn.
The make-up, under the artistic direction of Pat McGrath, revisited the glamour of the 1950s in a modern way, through the use of fine eyebrows, a strong liner, vermillion lipstick and a beauty spot on the cheek.
