The stocking and glove departments

A department entirely devoted to stockings was created a few years after the House was launched. Abroad, the manufacturing of stockings was quickly licensed to high-end manufacturers, first in the United States in 1949, and then in Great Britain, Italy, and Mexico. Each season, in spring and fall, the range of colors changed to match the prototypes of the new couture collection. The Paris department controlled the quality and the publicity, such as the way they were to be presented in window displays, which had to be identical for all the licensees anywhere in the world.
